Federal judge allows states to sue Meta for teen mental health issues through social media addiction | Mint

Facebook parent company Meta will face lawsuits by U.S. states alleging that its platforms, Facebook and Instagram, promote addiction and contribute to mental health problems among teenagers. A judge in California rejected Meta's attempt to dismiss the claims made by more than 30 states, including California and New York, as well as a separate lawsuit from Florida. While some limitations were imposed, the judge allowed the majority of the case to proceed based on the alleged misleading statements made by the company. The ruling also denied requests from TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat to dismiss personal injury lawsuits.
