Microsoft hires Inflection founders to run new consumer AI division

Microsoft has hired the co-founders of AI startup Inflection AI, Mustafa Suleyman and Karen Simonyan, along with other colleagues, to strengthen its consumer AI unit. Suleyman, also a co-founder of DeepMind, will lead Microsoft AI, while Simonyan will join as a chief scientist. Microsoft is expected to showcase its recent AI advancements for consumers at an upcoming event. The move follows Microsoft's participation in a $1.3 billion funding round for Inflection AI. The startup will now focus on its AI studio business and host Inflection-2.5 on Microsoft Azure. Microsoft's AI platform shift is still in its early stages, per CEO Satya Nadella.
