Netflix films chief Scott Stuber to depart, start own firm

Scott Stuber, the head of films at Netflix, is set to leave the streaming service in March to establish his own media company. Stuber, who joined Netflix in 2017, played a key role in expanding the platform's original film offerings. He served as chairman of Netflix Film starting in January 2023. Under his leadership, Netflix became the studio with the most Academy Award nominations for three consecutive years, from 2020 to 2022, earning eight Best Picture nominations for films like "The Irishman," "Roma," and "The Power of the Dog." Stuber's new venture will also produce projects for Netflix.
