Quick commerce, food delivery firms clock order spike on New Year’s Eve

On New Year’s Eve, quick commerce and food delivery platforms in India experienced high demand, with orders spiking significantly by the evening. Blinkit, a Zomato-owned platform, surpassed its total orders from Dec 31, 2023, by 5 pm. The company also launched a large-order fleet in Delhi and Gurgaon for bulk deliveries. Swiggy reported Bengaluru leading in food delivery orders and prepared for the surge with a fully-stocked Instamart warehouse and war rooms.
