Look at this woman. At 19, she dropped out of college. Raised millions from the biggest names for her tech company. Then built a $9 billion empire. And now she’s in prison. Here’s is the story of the greatest Silicon Valley disaster: Elizabeth Holmes had big dreams. At 19, she dropped out of Stanford to start her own company, Theranos. Her vision? To revolutionize healthcare. She promised to develop groundbreaking blood-testing technology. That can run hundreds of tests from just a drop of blood. But that dream quickly turned into a nightmare: Holmes convinced investors that her tech would change the world. Big names like Rupert Murdoch, Henry Kissinger, and the Walton family bought in. She was hailed as the next Steve Jobs. But under the surface, cracks were forming: The technology didn’t work Holmes’ device, the Edison, never worked as promised. In 2015, journalist John Carreyrou published a damning investigation. He revealed that Theranos’ technology didn’t work.
