Amazon veteran Samir Kumar to replace Manish Tiwary as India head

Samir Kumar, an Amazon veteran, has been appointed as the new country manager for India, replacing Manish Tiwary. Kumar, who joined Amazon in 1999, will also continue to lead the company's consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. This leadership change comes ahead of the crucial e-commerce festive season in India, where Amazon will compete with its rival Flipkart. Additionally, Amazon is yet to enter the quick commerce sector in India, but has plans to do so by the first quarter of 2025.
