CCI seeks Apple's reply on investigation report alleging antitrust practices

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has requested a response from Apple following an investigation report that found the tech giant to have potentially violated competition norms in relation to its App Store. The report suggests that Apple may have abused its market dominance, contravening various provisions of Section 4 of the competition law. The CCI had ordered a detailed probe in December 2021 after an initial finding that Apple abused its market dominance. The regulator was unsatisfied with the initial report and sought further investigation. Apple has not commented on the matter. Final hearings and a final order will occur after responses from Apple and the complainant are received.
