FCC will vote on restoring net neutrality rules

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on April 25th to potentially restore net neutrality rules. If approved, internet service providers (ISP) will face stricter regulations as they are reclassified as common carriers. Net neutrality rules aim to prevent ISPs from treating internet traffic differently. The rules were initially installed in 2015 but repealed in 2017. FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel, a Democrat, introduced the proposal in October last year, and if passed, the rules will come into effect 60 days after being published in the federal register. Critics argue that this move could be counterproductive and anti-consumer.
