YouTube adds new AI-generated content labeling tool

YouTube has introduced a self-labeling feature for creators to disclose when their videos contain AI-generated or synthetic material. Creators will be required to disclose any altered or synthetic content that appears realistic, such as deepfake voices or manipulated footage. However, disclosures will not be required for beauty filters, special effects, or clearly unrealistic content. The move comes as part of YouTube's efforts to protect artists and music labels and maintain transparency in AI-generated content. The feature relies on creators being honest about the content, as AI detection software is often inaccurate.
