Rising deepfake videos using artificial intelligence threat to content creators

Deepfakes, manipulated videos created using artificial intelligence (AI), are on the rise and becoming more sophisticated. Indian content creators are increasingly falling victim to deepfake pornography, with the country being the second-most susceptible after the United States. While some leverage this technology for gain, it poses a threat to content creators and raises concerns about privacy infringement, tampering with content, and online harassment. Companies are taking measures to curb the misuse of deepfakes, but self-regulation and checks and balances within the industry are necessary. The lack of regulation and the boom in AI technology contribute to this growing issue.
